Presently, televisions and radio advertisements are flooding the airwaves with alternative medicines in the form of herbal food supplements. The reason why there are many alternative medicine advertisements is because people have gone crazy over the herbal food supplements thinking that the "cure all" promised by the marketers is true.
The emergence of such craze is mainly because of the ever growing percentage of young people who are getting more and more prone to diseases. Diseases that is usually common to people ages 50 and above have now become increasingly found in the younger generation. It seems that the calling of being an "art of healing" of the usual western medicine has failed.
Now another natural herbal food supplement is gaining more attention. This herbal, called flaxseeds, is claimed to be very beneficial to ones health. Though the name sounds new, its health benefits flaxseeds has long been used around 500 B.C. in Egypt, Greece and Rome. Back then many people worshipped this herb since it was said that it could heal the intestines and skin conditions, and improve energy and the totality of ones health because of its "magical powers."
Commercializing of flaxseeds and its availability to the masses has only been done recently when medicine and drug companies took advantage of the findings done by reputable laboratories. Furthermore, its commercializing has gone into full throttle because of the strong recommendation for its use by health care professionals.
Thirty percent of flaxseed is fiber while 40% of it is healthy fat. The high content of fiber contributes to the improvement of the conditions of diabetic and hypoglycemia patients. Furthermore, flaxseed contains properties such as lignans and Omega 3 fatty acids. Lignans are responsible for improving heart conditions and combating cancer. Omega 3 fatty acids, on the other hand, nourish the brain and give that health glow to the skin and hair. The combination of fiber and Omega 3 fatty acid in flaxseed can increase metabolism in the body which can help reduce fat in the body faster.
